Spanish 2 Week 3 Plans | Shared by Elizabeth Dentlinger at SraDentlinger.wordpress.com
We’ve spent the first two weeks of Spanish 2 doing getting to know you activities like an All About Me presentation and Three Truths and a Lie with games at the end of the week. This week I decided to move on to a solid review of the Super 7 that they would have had in Spanish 1. I’ve already shared a variety of posts that are a result of this week, but here are my day-to-day plans:
Day 1 – Block period of 60 minutes
- Shake hands at door a la Capturing Kids’ Hearts
- Beginning of Class Routine: focusing on body parts as much as possible! Our grito was a body part related action.
- Enrique Iglesias Presentation: went over information on the slides and circled it.
- Activity 1 out of the Bailando packet
- Created our social contract that is part of the Capturing Kids’ Hearts program.
- Goodbye saying – borrowed and adapted from Bryce Hedstrom’s
Day 2 – Block period of 70 minutes
- Shake hands at door a la Capturing Kids’ Hearts
- Beginning of Class Routine: focusing on body parts as much as possible! Our grito was a body part related action.
- Activity 2 out of the Bailando packet
- Vocabulary: I had the following vocabulary on the board – hay, es, está, tiene, va, quiere and their tú and yo forms below them. I also had some additional words like chocolate, flores, diamantes, and some emotions. We repeated and acted them out several times.
- Alternative I’m Going on a Vacation and I’m bringing game: Martina Bex shared the game here and I adapted it to include the phrases we were working with. I had something like, “Estoy en la clase de inglés y tengo [objecto]” and “Voy a la clase de ciencias y estoy con [nombre de un estudiante]”.
- Goodbye saying – borrowed and adapted from Bryce Hedstrom’s
Day 3 – Block period of 70 minutes
- Shake hands at door a la Capturing Kids’ Hearts
- Beginning of Class Routine: focusing on body parts as much as possible! Our grito was a body part related action.
- Activity 3 out of the Bailando packet
- Looked over the Bailando video and talked in the TL about similarities we saw in where the video was filmed and differences, too, to better help them on their IPA for the song.
- Vocabulary: I had the following vocabulary on the board – hay, es, está, tiene, va, quiere and their tú and yo forms below them. I also had some additional words like chocolate, flores, diamantes, and some emotions. We repeated and acted them out several times.
- Acted out our story – which followed the plot of this one from Martina Bex. I had some masks printed out from the Lego movie and I switched part of their names so I could get repetitions of man/woman. So instead of Superwoman I had Súper-Mujer.
- Goodbye saying – borrowed and adapted from Bryce Hedstrom’s
Day 4 – Block period of 70 minutes
- Shake hands at door a la Capturing Kids’ Hearts
- Beginning of Class Routine: focusing on body parts as much as possible! Our grito was a body part related action.
- Reviewed the story from yesterday by reading sentences from the story and students raised to identify which it was in this activity.
- Read an alternative version of the story using Palomitas and answered comprehension questions.
- Activity 3 out of the Bailando packet
- We watched this Como bailar Flamenco video on Youtube and mimicked her movements as there is some Flamenco in the Bailando video.
- Goodbye saying – borrowed and adapted from Bryce Hedstrom’s
Day 5 – Block period of 70 minutes
- Shake hands at door a la Capturing Kids’ Hearts
- Beginning of Class Routine: focusing on body parts as much as possible! Our grito was a body part related action.
- IPA for Bailando packet – students did not have the IPA ahead of time, but I did allow them to use their packets.
- Students were asked to Free Read. Again, I went around and asked took a video of students recommending or not recommending their book to put on my school Twitter account.
- PESCA – I threw this vocabulary up on the whiteboard, put students into groups, and they played PESCA (Go Fish!) for the remaining time. It ended up being 15-20 minutes or so.
- Goodbye saying – borrowed and adapted from Bryce Hedstrom’s
As good as this week was, I’m looking forward to sharing all the exciting new things I tried out in week 4 in preparation for Valentine’s Day!
