Bullfighting Unit: Days 11/12 – Regional Views, PETA, and Letters

Here are the last few lessons from my bullfighting unit before we did our assessment.  I wanted students to be able to take everything they’ve learned and put it to use in “the real-world.”

Days 11: Regional Views.  Here was the lesson:

– Students used maps from Day 10 while marking certain regions of Spain and their views on bullfighting.

Days 12: PETA and Letters.  Here was the lesson:

– Students logged on to PETA’s website, searched “bullfighting” in the search bar, and then answered some questions that I had typed up for specific articles.  (FYI: There is a Spanish version of their website)

– One of the articles I directed students to asked students to write to an ambassador protesting bullfighting.  I asked students to choose which side they were on (either pro or anti bullfighting) and write their own letter.  I allowed students to write these in English.
